India To Buy 40 Sukhoi Jets By March


Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov visited India with President Vladimir Putin in January (epa) February 8, 2007 -- India's Air Force chief says India is set to sign a contract to buy 40 Sukhoi-30 fighter planes from Russia by the end of March.


S.P. Tyagi said the planes would cost some $40 million each and would be delivered within three years. Moscow, a Cold War ally of India, is seeking to secure its position as India's main weapons supplier.
