Putin Arrives In India For Talks With Premier


Manmohan Singh (right) welcomes Vladimir Putin to New Delhi today (epa) January 25, 2007 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi today for two days of talks with top officials including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.


Russia has long had close military and diplomatic ties with its former Cold War ally.


Already in India is Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, who oversaw new defense cooperation agreements on January 24.


The two sides agreed that India will manufacture a Russian aviation engine and cooperate on the development of a new Russian fighter jet.
