Russian President, Bulgarian Premier Meet

(RFE/RL) May 8, 2007 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the further expansion of commercial ties with Bulgaria during talks with Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev in the Kremlin today.

Stanishev hailed a recent deal on building a Russian oil pipeline from Bulgaria to northern Greece, as well as an agreement on Russian natural-gas shipments and a contract for Russia to build Bulgaria's second nuclear plant.

Meanwhile, Putin's press service reported today that Putin will visit Kazakhstan on May 9-10 and May 12-15.

On May 10-12, he will travel to neighboring Turkmenistan for a tripartite Russian-Kazakh-Uzbek summit.
