Loreta
Lithuania was the first country to openly fight for independence. The Soviet leadership, including Gorbachev, accused them of violating the U.S.S.R.'s Constitution. In January 1991 Russian troops took control of key buildings in Vilnius. Soviet tanks began moving to the TV tower and civilians rushed to protect it. Loreta was among them.
