The U.S. National Security Council has added its voice to the international chorus expressing concern over reports -- including from Kyiv as well as the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) -- that "Russian backed and supplied separatists are moving large convoys of weapons and tanks to the front lines of the conflict" in eastern Ukraine.

It calls on Moscow to "honor all of the commitments it made in Minsk, including ending its military supply to the separatists and the withdrawal of all of its troops and weapons from Ukraine."

Here is an update from RFE/RL's news desk on the United States' reaction to reports of military convoys in eastern Ukraine:

The White House has expressed concern over reports that pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine are moving large convoys of heavy weapons and tanks.

"We are very concerned by intensified fighting in eastern Ukraine, as well as numerous reports... that Russian-backed-and-supplied separatists are moving large convoys of heavy weapons and tanks to the front lines of the conflict," National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said in a statement.

Meehan warned any efforts by the rebels to seize more territory would be a "blatant violation" of a cease-fire agreement signed in Minsk in September.

Meehan urged Moscow to stop supplying the rebels with weapons and withdraw all Russian troops and weapons from eastern Ukraine.

Moscow denies sending arms or troops intro eastern Ukraine.
