The Slovak anti-corruption movement Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OLaNO) emerged victorious from the February 29 parliamentary elections. The ruling Direction-Social Democracy party finished second and declared it would go into opposition. The elections were closely watched after the assassination of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancee two years ago.
