Armenian, Azerbaijani MPs To Discuss Karabakh

BAKU -- The Russian Duma will host a parliamentary meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian lawmakers on October 22 in Moscow, RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service reports.

Each side, as well as the State Duma, will be represented by five deputies and talks will focus on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Azerbaijani lawmakers have said they do not expect any documents to emerge from the meeting, adding that the sides would "seek a common consensus."

Polad Bulbuloglu, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Russia, and Mikhail Shvydkoi, the Russian president's representative on international cultural cooperation, will also participate in the meeting.

The gathering comes in the wake of tensions between Azerbaijan and Turkey over recent fence-mending moves by Ankara and Yerevan.
