MOSCOW -- The offices of one of Moscow's largest construction and investment companies have been searched by police, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
Mirax Group employees report via the company's website that several dozen plainclothes investigators accompanied by armed OMON troops entered the offices today and asked all employees to leave the premises without taking their personal belongings.
Moscow officials said the search was being conducted by agents from the Department for Combating Economic Crime who are investigating the alleged illegal transfer of cash out of Russia.
The Mirax Group is one of the most prominent companies engaged in construction projects in the Russian capital, including the ambitious Moskva-City Business center. It is unclear who owns it.
