Russia Says Hopes For Consensus On Iran Sanctions

Sergei Lavrov
MOSCOW (Reuters) -- Moscow says it hopes a consensus can be reached on a draft UN sanctions resolution against Iran.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also called on Iran to send details of its proposed uranium swap to the UN's nuclear agency as soon as possible.

The remarks come as Washington seeks rapid Security Council approval for new sanctions after rejecting a Turkey-Brazil-Iran deal earlier this week.

U.S. President Barack Obama told Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan overnight that Tehran's insistence on enriching uranium does "not build confidence," despite Tehran's agreement to swap some of its enriched uranium for medical-grade nuclear fuel.
