MINSK -- Police have detained two opposition activists in Minsk, RFE/RL's Belarus Service reports.

Mikhas Pashkevich and Raman Bahdanovich, members of the Tell the Truth campaign, were detained near the central department store in Minsk while allegedly covering garbage bins with black plastic bags and putting stickers on them that read: "Hide garbage, not votes!"

Similar actions were held simultaneously near Minsk's Europe Hotel and the building of the Commonwealth Of Independent States' Executive Committee.

The Tell the Truth campaign encourages Belarusians to speak out about social problems. It is organized by the Moving Forward movement, which is led by writer and civic activist Uladzimer Nyaklyaeu, who has announced his candidacy for president.
