Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai has vowed to hold the Taliban accountable for attacks that have killed and injured scores of people in the past week.
In a statement released by the presidential palace, Karzai called the attacks "acts of terror" and "mass killings."
The statement said: "Taliban have recently become so desperate and incapable that they can't do anything but resort to targeting civilians, and especially innocent workers, engineers, women, and children."
It added: "This once again proves that they have nothing to offer but killing and destruction."
The latest attacks included a suicide bombing August 31 that killed six people and injured more than 20 in at a bank in Kandahar Province, and an attack involving a bombing late August 30 that killed 12 people in Helmand Province.
