KONDUZ, Afghanistan -- Police say the Taliban shadow governor for a district in northern Afghanistan's Konduz Province has been killed in an air strike.
Provincial police chief Khalil Andarabi told RFE/RL that Mulawi Ahmad Shah was killed in a joint operation by Afghan and coalition forces.
Andarabi said two of Shah's bodyguards were also killed in the operation in the Noorzai area of Chardara district.
Neither Taliban nor NATO officials have commented on the attack.
Elsewhere, the Interior Ministry said 11 Taliban fighters were killed in police operations during the past 24 hours.
The ministry said the operations were conducted in Konduz, Balkh, Kandahar, Oruzgan, Paktika, Paktia, Herat, Helmand, and Nimroz provinces.
