China has sentenced a second dissident in the span of four days to prison for "inciting subversion of state power."

The human rights group Chinese Human Rights Defenders said that Chen Xi received a 10-year sentence in Guiyang, the capital of the southern province of Guizhou. The sentence stemmed from 36 essays that were critical of the ruling Communist Party that he wrote and distributed online.

The case was similar to one involving Chen Wei, who was sentenced on December 23 to nine years in jail. Both wrote critical essays on online.
