Thousands Of Egyptian Protesters Demand Mubarak Trial

Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have gathered in central Cairo's Tahrir Square demanding a speedy trial for ousted President Hosni Mubarak and senior leaders accused of corruption.

In what they called the "Friday of Purgation and Trial," the protesters held a mock trial for Mubarak's close associates in Tahrir Square.

In the northern coastal city of Alexandria, thousands rallied after Friday prayers urging the authorities to dissolve Mubarak's National Democratic Party, as well as the local councils elected during Mubarak's reign.

Activists said a protest was also held in northern Suez city, where the demonstrators echoed the demands being made in Tahrir Square, and called for action against the police officers who shot at protesters during the uprising.
