A series of bombings in and around Baghdad have killed at least eight people and wounded 33 others.

Officials said two car bombings targeted police patrols, killing one policeman and a bystander.

Another car bomb just north of Baghdad killed a farmer and his son who were on their way to the market.

A roadside bomb exploded as a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims drove by, killing one and injuring nine.

The offices of the government sewage department were also targeted, killing two people.

A bomb outside a school in the nearby town of Tarmiyah killed a 7-year-old boy.

Officials said the bombings were designed to show Iraq is unable to provide adequate security ahead of an Arab League summit Iraq is set to host in late March.
