Palestinian medical officials say the death toll from Israeli air strikes on Gaza on March 9 has now climbed to at least 14 dead, including a senior Palestinian militant leader, and 18 seriously injured.
Zohair al-Qaisi, secretary-general of the Popular Resistance Committees, was attacked because he was planning an attack, the Israelis said on March 9.
Another militant was killed with him.
The Islamist Hamas movement, which runs Gaza, said at least eight more died in later Israeli air strikes.
The Israeli raids came as Palestinians fired dozens of rockets and mortar rounds into southern Israel.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said on March 10 that Palestinian militants had fired at least 90 rockets and mortar rounds into southern Israel since the previous day, seriously injuring one person.
