NATO has said that all the insurgents involved in a coordinated weekend attack against key government buildings in the southern city of Kandahar have either been captured or killed.

The violence began on May 7 when a group of Taliban fighters armed with suicide vests, guns, and rocket-propelled grenades launched an attack across the city.

Afghan officials said at least 25 insurgents and two members of the Afghan security forces and one civilian were killed.

Some 40 people were wounded. Meanwhile, a suicide bomber killed five civilians and injured five others in an attack near a government office in eastern Afghanistan.

Officials say that the blast took place close to the district government compound in Qarghayi, in eastern Laghman Province.
