The Russian Antidoping Agency has been suspended by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for noncompliance.
The decision on November 18 by the WADA executive board came less than two weeks after an independent commission set up by the international antidoping commission uncovered widespread doping offences and systematic failures.
WADA has already decertified the Russian antidoping lab.
Russian Deputy Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov had told the WADA executive board earlier on November 18 that if the lab stayed decertified, the Russian government might withdraw its funding.
As well as Russia, the national antidoping agencies of Andorra, Israel, Argentina, Bolivia, and Ukraine were also ruled noncompliant.
