The Russian and Chinese navies have begun a 10-day training exercise.
An opening ceremony launching the Russian-Chinese Maritime Cooperation-2015 naval drills took place in the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk on May 11.
The exercise, whose active stage will be held in the Mediterranean Sea, is to involve some 10 Russian and Chinese warships.
Earlier on May 11, Beijing said it had invited Russian troops to march in a parade in September commemorating the end of World War II.
The announcement came after China's President Xi Jinping attended a parade in Moscow on May 9 marking the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.
China's Defense Ministry said Xi's visit to Russia and his appearance at the Moscow commemorations "pushed the China-Russia all-round strategic partnership relationship to a new level."
