Russia Sends Third Icebreaker To Rescue Trapped Ships

Russia has dispatched a third icebreaker in an effort to rescue three Russian ships trapped in thick ice off Russia's Far East coast.

The ships with more than 400 crew aboard have been trapped in the Sea of Okhotsk for six days.

Two icebreakers have previously been sent to rescue the trapped vessels, but one became stuck for hours on January 5 and had to retreat to safer waters.

Russian officials have said those on board the icebound vessels had sufficient food and water.
