Turkey's armed forces say a Turkish military cargo plane was targeted by antiaircraft fire in Libya but returned to Turkey safely.
The army's General Staff said the plane came under fire from the ground on September 17 over the town of Bani Walid where the forces of Libya's National Transitional Council are fighting forces faithful to ousted leader Muammar Qaddafi in one of the loyalists' last remaining strongholds.
The statement said the plane offloaded the aid successfully and returned safely to Turkey on September 18 after a stopover in the eastern city of Benghazi.
It said investigations into the antiaircraft fire were continuing.
National Transitional Council forces are meeting fierce resistance by Qaddafi loyalists in Bani Walid and in Qaddafi's hometown of Sirte.
