Thousands Expected To Protest Anti-Prophet Film In Pakistan

Tens of thousands of Pakistanis are expected to protest over a film made in the United States and cartoons published in a French magazine deemed insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.

The Pakistani government has declared September 21 a holiday as a "day of love for the Prophet" and urged people to protest peacefully.

Police used tear gas and live rounds to disperse violent crowds on September 20 trying to reach the U.S. embassy.

Meanwhile, Pakistani television channels are airing an advert showing clips of U.S. President Barack Obama and State Secretary Hillary Clinton condemning the film "Innocence of Muslims."

The advert emphasizes the that the film was not made by the U.S. government, and there is never any justification for violence.
