The court said today that Mandic has been charged on 14 counts along with with three other top Bosnian Serb officials, including the state presidency’s ex-Serbian member, Mirko Sarovic.

The court said Mandic -- a former minister in the government of Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic -- was accused of abuse of office, forgeries, and of providing assistance to fugitives, such as Karadzic.

Karadzic has been indicted by the UN war crimes court on genocide charges for the 1995 Srebrenica massacre of 8,000 Muslims and the 43-month siege of Sarajevo.

Paddy Ashdown, the former High Representative for Bosnia, had accused Mandic of supporting Karadzic financially, but Mandic denied the charge.
