Al-Sadr Bloc 'Suspends' Participation In Iraqi Government

Muqtada al-Sadr (file photo) (AFP) November 29, 2006 - The political bloc of the radical Shi'ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has suspended its participation in Iraq's government of national unity.

The bloc says the move is a protest against a meeting today between Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and U.S. President George W. Bush in Jordan.

The bloc said it viewed the meeting as an act of provocation to the Iraqi people.
