Poland Foresees Quick End To Russia Meat Dispute

Polish President Lech Kaczynski (file photo) (AFP) December 15, 2006 -- Polish President Lech Kaczynski said today Poland's veto on EU talks on a partnership agreement with Russia could be lifted within days.

Poland blocked the start of the negotiations because of a Russian ban on imports of Polish meat and some other food products.

Kaczynski, speaking after a European Union summit in Brussels, said final proposals had been submitted to EU president Finland, but gave no details.
