The legal representative of a prominent Iranian human rights lawyer says he's been missing for two weeks, RFE/RL’S Radio Farda reports.
Mohammad Seifzadeh was sentenced to nine years in prison in October for "acting against national security" by setting up the Center for Human Rights Defenders, which he co-founded with Nobel Peace Prize-winner Shirin Ebadi and two other lawyers.
Seifzadeh, who rejected the charges, appealed his sentence and has not yet started his prison term.
"We are unaware of his whereabouts for the past two weeks," Seifzadeh's lawyer, Marzieh Nikara, told RFE/RL on April 21.
She said as far as she was aware there had been no ruling yet on Seifzadeh's appeal.
She also demanded the authorities clarify Seifzadeh's whereabouts.
"As he is 63 years of age, we are concerned about his physical well-being, the family is also concerned about his whereabouts," she said.
