Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev (file photo) (CTK) April 18, 2006 -- Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev today removed Finance Minister Avaz Alakbarov from office.
No immediate reason was given.
News reports say Aliyev also signed a decree appointing the head of Azerbaijan's State Oil Fund, Samir Sarifov, as the new finance minister.
