Kyrgyz Opposition Urges President, Premier To Resign

(RFE/RL) BISHKEK, May 5, 2007 (RFE/RL)  -- The Kyrgyz opposition bloc United Front For A Worthy Future For Kyrgyzstan has called for the resignation of the country's leadership and the formation of a new coalition government.

The bloc also demanded an end to what it said was the persecution of the opposition, and an investigation into the death of a United Front member who was found dead in a pretrial detention cell in the eastern town of Naryn in April.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
