Officials Say Iraqi Forces Kill Al-Qaeda Leader

The Iraqi military said security forces killed the top military leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, an Al-Qaeda-linked group responsible for bombings and suicide attacks across Iraq.

A spokesman for the Baghdad operations' command said that al-Nasser Lideen Allah Abu Suleiman was killed on the night of February 24 in Hit, west of Baghdad.

Suleiman was known as the "war minister" of the group. He had replaced the Egyptian Abu Ayyub al-Masri who was killed in a U.S.-Iraqi military strike in April.
