Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to be discharged from hospital in Dubai on December 15, according to a statement from the president's office quoting his doctors.

The statement said all tests carried out on Zardari had returned results "within normal range" and that he is to "rest at home" once he has left the hospital.

It did not say whether that would be in Pakistan or in Dubai, where Zardari's family is known to have property.

But his spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, told AFP that Zardari would remain at his house in Dubai. He declined to comment when Zardari would be returning to Pakistan.

Zardari, 56, was rushed to hospital in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, after falling ill early last week.

His sudden departure came as he was facing pressure over alleged attempts by a close aide to seek U.S. help to limit the power of the military and triggered speculation he might resign. That has been denied by officials.
