Seven suspects arrested in connection with last month's attack against Islamic religious leaders in Tatarstan have been released.

Russia's Investigative Committee says the released individuals remain suspects and therefore are officially banned from leaving the Tatar capital, Kazan.

The suspects were arrested after Tatarstan's Mufti Ildus Faizov was injured in a car bombing and his former deputy Valiulla Yakupov was shot dead near his house in Kazan on July 19.

One suspect remains in custody.

Tatarstan authorities are looking for three other local citizens who might have been involved in the attack.
