The planned deportation of Osama bin Laden's family from Pakistan has been postponed due to what a lawyer for the family said was a delay in the preparation of legal documents.

Bin Laden's family -- consisting of three wives, eight children, and one grandchild -- were detained by Pakistani authorities after the Al-Qaeda leader was killed in a raid by U.S. special forces in the northern town of Abbottabad, near Islamabad, in May 2011.

They had been expected to leave Pakistan overnight on April 18 after completing a brief sentence in detention for illegally entering and residing in Pakistan.

They were expected to be flown to Saudi Arabia.

Lawyer Muhammad Amir said he expected all documents to be ready and the family to leave later on April 18.
