ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani intelligence sources say four suspected militants have been killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan's tribal region of North Waziristan.
Intelligence officials and local sources told RFE/RL the remotely piloted aircraft fired missiles at a vehicle in the Dattakhel Tehsil district sometime on March 21-22.
It is not clear who was being targeted.
The area close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas, governed by tribal laws.
Attacks by unmanned U.S. aircraft are deeply unpopular in Pakistan.
Islamabad says the drone attacks violate Pakistan's sovereignty and fan anti-U.S. sentiment.
