Flu Spurs EU To Extend Ban On Romanian Poultry


(RFE/RL) June 2, 2006 -- The European Union today banned the import of live poultry and poultry products from Romania following fresh outbreaks last month of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu.


The European Commission -- the EU's executive arm -- said the situation "is being closely monitored."
