Local authorities in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria have lifted restrictions implemented in connection with a counterterrorism operation after security forces killed two militants.
Local authorities announced earlier on October 5 that a security operation had been launched in the Baksansk district near the border with Stavropol Krai and ordered restricted access to the area and ordered residents to stay indoors.
Similar measures were implemented across the border in Stavropol Krai
Security authorities in Kabardino-Balkaria reportedly received information that a group of armed people were headed toward the Stavropol Krai border with the intention of crossing and "carrying out a terrorist attack."
The two militants killed were first located near the village of Psykhurei. When security forces ordered the two to halt and identify themselves, the militants opened fire and were gunned down.
