PRAGUE, January 31, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- To many people around the world, Czechoslovakia’s anticommunist Charter 77 manifesto was a heroic bid for freedom that helped topple Soviet totalitarianism. Many of its signatories, including former Czech President Vaclav Havel, had to endure years in prison.
