RFE/RL is looking for a freelance correspondent in Ukraine with excellent reporting and writing skills, a proactive attitude, a great eye for a story, and a strong background in the region. At this intense time, with Ukraine likely to be in the global spotlight for the foreseeable future due to the Russian invasion, this is an opportunity for an ambitious journalist to reach a broad regional and international audience. You must be a skilled storyteller as well as a strong reporter – able to produce compelling, accurate, and unique articles that go beyond rehashing the latest news to deconstructing and contextualizing key events and issues across the region. We're looking for someone who can drive the news agenda, rather than just respond to it, who can pitch feature stories that are often missed by other news outlets. Candidates should be interested in telling compelling human stories that otherwise might not be heard -- and should be focused less on events than on the issues, the people, the context behind them, as well as their significance going forward. Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian a must. Photo experience desired.
We’re looking for:
- Proven track record as an excellent reporter/writer
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian
Interested? Send your CV and a cover letter in English including in the subject line the vacancy number as above.
