Promo Producer/Video Editor, Current Time TV - Scheduling

We are looking for a Promo Producer/Video Editor to support the Scheduling team for Current Time’s 24/7 television channel . You will work closely with the manager of Scheduling, senior producers, and acquisition managers to develop, write, produce, and broadcast trailers, promos, teasers, and announcements for a variety of television programs that air on Current Time. Additionally, you will be responsible for transferring and uploading programs to the channel’s playout systems.




  • Works with Current Time TV’s news, documentary, and digital departments to conceptualize, develop, shoot, direct, edit, and post-produce promotional videos and trailers.
  • Closely coordinates with acquisition and commissioning editors to ensure strategic promotion of new content.
  • Comes up with and implements strong creative ideas that are primarily focused on television but are inclusive of the channel’s overall multiplatform objectives.
  • Conceptualize, write, edits, produces, shoots, post-produces image campaigns and channel branding elements to expand awareness of Current Time’s brand.
  • Works with staff and freelance content producers to brainstorm, conceptualize, develop, and produce trailers, promos, teasers for documentary films and series from preproduction to postproduction and placement.
  • Ensures compliance of final products with RFE/RL’s editorial standards.
  • Ensures compliance of final promotional products with the channel’s graphics and branding standards.
  • Uploads programs in RFE/RL’s online publishing system, Pangea, for digital distribution. 
  • Ingests, transcodes, and transfers programs into the Viz/Opus system and updates the Octopus system accordingly.
  • Prepares promos, channel IDs, and interstitials for uploading to Viz/Opus, verifies their input into the system.
  • Fills and updates Current Time’s TV Schedule in Pangea daily.
  • Creates daily rundowns in Octopus according to the TV schedule.
  • Ensures that all spots scheduled are correct and approved for air.
  • Receives program materials and verifies that they meet technical requirements, making sure that video and audio meet required standards and performing necessary Quality Control checks.
  • Edits raw video to enhance a story's impact, makes sure all elements in the rundown are ready for air.





Higher education or certificate in film studies, a related field or the equivalent in experience is preferred.


Work Experience: 

  • 2 - 3 years' experience in non-linear video editing for a news organization. 
  • 2 - 3 years' experience with digital technology and editing software packages. 
  • A strong portfolio that reflects video editing work and demonstrable ability to innovate and tell high-impact stories on a variety of multimedia platforms. 
  • Experience in studio-based live video production, including camera operation, audio board, and switcher (TriCaster 850 or 8000), desirable. 



  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially After Effects and Premiere Pro 
  • Must be familiar with 2D and 3D graphic design packages 
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and to use images and sound to achieve the producer's vision. 
  • Sense of news judgment, pace, and an eye for detail. 
  • Broad knowledge of international events and politics and familiarity regarding RFE/RL's target countries, in particular Current Time’s vast audience of Russian speakers worldwide. 
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills with proven ability to enterprise and innovate to create new ways to tell high-impact stories on a variety of multimedia platforms. 
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, with excellent interpersonal skills needed to build positive relationships within RFE/RL. 



  • Russian language at native level, mandatory 
  • English language at proficiency level, mandatory

Appointment against this post is on a local basis only.
